The presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, held a telephone conversation this Saturday in which they opted to intensify bilateral relations at a political, economic and commercial level.
The Kremlin has reported the call, in which the transport and logistics sector has been addressed in particular as the main areas of cooperation, reports the Russian news agency TASS.
“They have agreed to intensify contacts between the relevant Russian and Iranian bodies,” the Russian Presidency added in a statement.
In addition, Putin has taken the opportunity to convey his condolences to Raisi for the attack carried out on October 26 against the Shah Cheragh mosque, in the city of Shiraz, which left fifteen dead and dozens injured.
Iran has acknowledged that it has sent combat drones to Russia, although it has assured that it did so before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24. Israel has warned that Iran could try to get Russian nuclear technology in exchange.
