Putin accuses Ukraine of 'terrorist attack' on Kerch Bridge

Oct. 9 () –

Russian President Vladimir Putin has pointed out to the Ukrainian secret services the “terrorist attack” perpetrated against the Kerch bridge last Saturday and that has left it partially unusable.

“There is no doubt that it is a terrorist attack that sought to destroy a civil infrastructure of vital importance to the Russian Federation,” Putin said during a working meeting with the director of the Russian Investigative Committee (FSB), Alexander Bastrikin, collected by the Russian news agency Interfax.

“Those responsible and the material authors are the secret services of Ukraine”, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), has riveted.

Bastrikin added that there are “citizens of Russia and foreign countries who have helped prepare this terrorist attack” and explained that they have traced the route of the truck that exploded on the bridge from Bulgaria and through Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia and the Krasnodar Territory. “The FSB and the Russian Interior Ministry have been instructed to conduct operational searches,” he said.

At least three people died in the explosion of a truck on the Kerch bridge, which connects Russian territory with the Crimean peninsula, under Russian occupation. The explosive was detonated as a fuel transport train passed by.

At least two sections of one of the bridge’s two carriageways collapsed in the blast. The parallel railway has been damaged, but is operational.
