The former president of the Generalitat and MEP of Junts Carlos Puigdemont will enter the campaign this Sunday to support the party’s candidate for Congress, Miriam Noguerasin the central meeting that will be held in Amer (Girona), the town where the former Catalan president was born. The event, which is scheduled to start at 12:00 noon in the square of the Amer Monastery, has been organized under the motto ‘At your side, president’.
It will be the first time that Puigdemont has participated in a party event in this electoral campaign, which began after the European court decision to withdraw his immunity as a MEP as well as the ex-ministers Toni Comín and Clara Ponsatí.
Puigdemont also made it clear that he will not do the “mischief” of testimonially crossing the border with Spain to take “a selfie”: “The return is an act of political significance,” he said.
