Discord’s integration into the PS5 system software allows players to chat with friends on other platforms, including PC and Xbox, a very important feature when you consider that cross-play is an increasingly common feature. However, the integration has room for improvement. To get started, PS5 users must link Discord and PlayStation Network accounts from the console (Settings> Users and accounts> Link with other services), via web or app, and then use the Discord application on the mobile or computer to transfer the voice chat being rolled out to PS5.
On Xbox, initially the process to join a Discord voice chat was the same as on PS5, but over time the integration was perfected and now it is no longer necessary to transfer the call from a mobile and computer. It is to be hoped that sooner or later this improvement will also be available on the Sony console.
Regarding support for variable refresh rate (VRR), now PS5 users who have a monitor or TV that supports this resolution will enjoy smoother visual performance when using an HDMI 2.1 display. With the update of firmware Some tweaks are also being made to the PS5 1440p output test parameters, making 1440p support possible for a wider selection of HDMI displays. To check if the panel is compatible with 1440p you have to go to the menu Settings> Screen and video> Video output> Test 1440p output.
Finally, in the new accessibility features section, we highlight the improvements in the migration of saved data from PS4 to PS5. Access to PS4 save data on PS5 is now made easier in two ways:
- When a PS4 game is downloaded or installed on PS5, a notification will appear indicating that PS4 save data is available on PlayStation Network cloud storage (if PS5 does not already have game save data).
- When you download or install a PS5 game that can load PS4 save data, such as the PS5 version of a title that was also released for PS4, you’ll see the same notification (if the game supports this feature).
Please note that online storage of save data requires a PlayStation Plus subscription.
