The announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro has divided opinions, especially due to its price and the lack of some parts, since it is a console focused on the digital format. However, it is a product aimed at a niche and therefore it is not expected to have extraordinary sales, in fact, it is not even expected to be able to sell more than the PS4 Pro. At least that is what one of the most important analysts in the industry thinks.
PS5 will sell less than the PS4 Pro
During a interview with VGCPiers Harding-Rolls, an analyst at Ampere Analysis, revealed his predictions for the commercial performance of the PS5 Pro. In this regard, The specialist believes that the price of the console, although outrageous, will not affect its sales as it will be close to what the PS4 Pro sold for when it was launched on the market.“The price of the PS5 Pro will inevitably cause a lot of comment. The price difference between the PS5 and PS5 Pro is between 40-50%, which is significantly more than the difference between the PS4 and PS4 Pro at launch. We expect the price to dampen demand a bit for some consumers, but for PlayStation enthusiasts, the price is the least of their concerns.”
Regarding sales projection, Piers Harding-Rolls expects PS5 Pro to sell 1.3 million units at launch and through 2024. The position is conservative since the figure is below the 1.7 million that PS4 Pro registered at its launch.
