Protesters in Madrid ask to raise pensions because "there is money" and an equitable distribution of resources

MADRID 26 Oct. () –

Hundreds of people summoned in Madrid by the Action Unit of Pensioner Organizations of the Towns and Communities of the State have asked this Saturday for an increase in pensions from the Government of Pedro Sánchez and the defense of the public system for its management.

“The Government must fulfill its commitments so that public pensions are the central axis of being able to have a decent life,” said the spokesman for the Pension Action Unit, Pep Juárez, adding that “there is money” to trust in having a dignified future for all Spanish citizens and denounce that an “equitable distribution of wealth” is necessary.

The organization has notified the central Executive that they will “put pressure” to recover the purchasing power of the elderly.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Asjubi40 association, Santiago Menchero, has highlighted the bill registered in the Congress of Deputies by Podemos in which they ask to eliminate the reducing coefficients in the retirement pension of people who have contributed 40 or more years, even if they request it in advance.

The purple formation points out that the application of reducing coefficients to retired people with long contribution careers represents an “injustice with very negative effects”, since people who retire end up receiving a lower pension than that of a person who has lower contributions. .

In this sense, the organizational secretary of the party led by Ione Belarra, Pablo Fernández, has sent a message of support to the organizers and has stated that his political party “is against the private pension system.” Likewise, Podemos demands “decent pensions” and “a shield in the Constitution of the public nature of the pension system.”
