At least one protester has died and another 200 have been injured this Thursday during a series of protests that took place this Thursday in Kenya before the approval in the second instance of a bill that will include a sharp increase in taxes.
The legislation, promoted by the president of the country, William Rutto, has been approved by the minimum after achieving 204 votes in favor and 115 against in the National Assembly, which will now go to a Committee Phase to carry out a final examination of it before its approval, according to the newspaper ‘The Nation’.
On the other hand, the NGO Amnesty International (AI) has reported the arrest of 35 people across 19 counties, while the 200 injured are a figure it has recorded in Nairobi, the country’s capital.
Among those injured there are five from rubber bullets, from inhalation of tear gas or from blows with police batons, while another six have been run over by security agents, as reported by AI on its Facebook social network account.
