The prominent Spanish academic specialist in clusters, Jon Azúa, will give the XVIII Raúl Prebisch Chair next Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the main headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), where he will be received by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of the regional organization.
The President and founder of Enovating Lab will offer the lecture titled “Clustering a productive, competitive, prosperous, inclusive and sustainable economy: towards the co-creation of the desired economic development”.
Jon Azúa is an Industrial Engineer from the Universities of Anáhuac, UNAM (Mexico) and the Basque Country (ETSIIT of Bilbao), Master in Economics and Business Management (MED) from the University of Navarra (IESE-Barcelona) and PHD (Doctorate in Business & Public Administration) by Lasalle University (USA).
He is currently a member of the Governing Bodies of the following non-profit organizations: Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation (Arts and Culture); Innobasque (Basque Innovation Agency); TECNALIA Technology Corporation; and Keralty Group.
He is also a Professor and researcher at the MOC Network (Harvard University Institute of Strategy and Competitiveness), the Basque Institute of Competitiveness-Orkestra at the University of Deusto, and SINTONÍA (UPAEPMéxico). He also serves as Dean of the PwC “Work Academy” and is part of the Consulting Affiliate Network in the Shared Value Initiative.
He is the author of numerous publications, including Coopetitive Alliances for the new Economy; Clusterize and Glokalize the Economy. The magic of the Process; and Bizkaia 2050: Bilbao-Bizkaia-Basque Country.
During his extensive career he has received several distinctions, such as the Eisenhower Fellowship & World Wide Leadership Award (1998); MOC-ISC Affiliate Network Hall of Fame. Harvard University (2012); Honorary Advisor at SINTONÍA-UPAEP, Mexico (2012); IVC-Orkestra: Leading Competitiveness Impact (2013); Honorary Consul of Bilbao (2014); and Honorary Advisor of the Basque Institute of Competitiveness-Orkestra, University of Deusto (2019).
