Dr. Hermann Zbinden will be able to develop his research between the years 2023-2025.

Finis Terrae Communications.- 2023 began as a year full of good news in terms of research for the director of the Doctorate in Exercise Sciences, Dr. Hermann Zbinden, who a few days ago was notified by the Chilean Agency for International Development Cooperation (AGCID) that his The “Learn from our elders: understanding and counteracting the deterioration of neuromuscular control with age” project was selected by the VII Mixed Cooperation Commission between Chile and the Wallonia-Brussels region to be developed between the years 2023-2025.

“Chile and Belgium have a long history of collaboration in different areas of knowledge. Currently, our School has close ties of academic and student exchange links that have been developed since 2010 to date. This project is part of the doctorate in Exercise Sciences that is carried out jointly between both universities”, says Dr. Hermann Zbinden.

The academic adds that “without a doubt, obtaining this financial aid from both governments allows us to demonstrate that our collaborative project is solid, of excellence and of high academic quality. For us it is a pride to be able to award projects of high academic demand and international prestige”.

The letter sent by the executive director of AGCID, Enrique Ofarrill-Julien, indicates that both the Chilean entity and the Delegation of Wallonia-Brussels in Chile emphasize giving “visibility to this valuable cooperation”, for this reason they hope that both institutions “remain in contact during the project implementation period, in order to be able to publicize activities or any information that is considered relevant”.

Dr. Zbinden’s great achievement comes after being informed a few weeks ago about his adjudication of the Regular Fondecyt 2023 with his project “Effect of treatment with Urolitin A in myofibrillar protein aggregation diseases through inflammation, mitophagy and muscle function”.
