Pro-Russian authorities in Donetsk report six dead and nearly 60 wounded in Ukrainian attacks in one week

September 23 () –

Moscow-imposed authorities in the Donetsk region, located in eastern Ukraine but partially under Russian control, have denounced on Monday that at least six people have died and nearly 60 others have been injured in attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces in the last week.

This was confirmed by the Ombudsman’s Office of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on its Telegram channel, where it notes that among the injured there are at least four children, and also provides an overview of the situation in the region since the beginning of the year.

In total, since the beginning of 2024, a total of 274 civilians have died in the territory, including ten children; while another 1,269 people have been injured, including 97 children, due to Ukrainian attacks in the area.

The Donbas region, located in eastern Ukraine and also including the Luhansk region, has been the scene of attacks for a decade, when Ukrainian troops and pro-Russian militias began clashes that have since left almost 9,400 dead and more than 14,500 wounded.

The war in Ukraine broke out at the end of February 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the order to invade his neighbouring country. Since then, Moscow has achieved certain victories and territorial advances that allow it to partially control some provinces such as Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson or Zaporizhia, which it annexed in September of that same year following a referendum not recognised internationally.
