November 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A powerful earthquake has caused tremors this Friday in the western part of the Indonesian archipelago, although there is no immediate record by any authority that there have been personal or material damages as a result of this earthquake.
The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has estimated the magnitude of the quake at 6.8, while the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has raised it to 6.9. Both agencies confirm at least one strong aftershock in the area.
The earthquake originated at a relatively shallow depth – between 10 and 25 kilometers, depending on the source – and, although it has been recorded in the sea, the Indonesian authorities have ruled out on their social networks that there is a risk of a tsunami. .
