HMD is the company that has the license to manufacture smartphones under the Nokia brand. Since acquiring this license, the vast majority of terminals that they have launched on the market have been in modest ranges, far from the flagships of some of the other companies in the sector.
The situation could change after having filtered the supposed successor to the legendary Lumia 1020, a mobile phone that was once a benchmark in photography, with its 41 MP sensor of almost an inch with a Carl Zeiss lens, with a xenon flash system and different capture modes, in addition to the PureView processor system, a pioneer in pixel fusion to improve the quality of photographs. The company recovered the PureView brand in 2018, but it has not been used much.
According to the leaked design, HMD would recover the design of the Lumia 1020, with a terminal with right-angled edges and a screen rounded at the corners, in addition to the characteristic rear circle.
Of course, times change and today multi-camera systems are already the majority trend in the sector, which is why in the leaked design of the successor to the Lumia 1020 you can see four circles that would represent four photographic sensors. Unless there is a surprise, it would have a main sensor, a wide-angle and two zoom lenses, although there are still no details about the final configuration.
It remains to be seen whether this supposed successor to the Lumia 1020 will actually be able to find a place in the top-range of handsets with good photographic capabilities. Let’s hope that the rest of the specifications are in line and that this isn’t just another mid-range handset.
