POSCO seeks support in Argentina for the “Expo Busan 2030”

Tak Jeong, representative director and president of the South Korean group POSCO, met with the Argentine foreign minister, Santiago Cafiero in Argentina and asked him for support for the celebration of the “Busan 2030 Expo”.

Argentina is the fourth largest producer of lithium in the world and the POSCO Group is the first Korean company to market lithium in Argentina.

This meeting was held again after Jeong-woo Choi, General Manager of the POSCO Group, met in March with Alberto Fernández, President of Argentina, to request his support for the Busan Expo, and after the POSCO Group has met with high officials of the Argentine government to promote the negotiations.

At this meeting, Tak Jeong repeatedly stressed that Busan, the number one port city in Korea, is the best city to host the World Expo.

The event was also attended by Myung-soo Jang, Korean ambassador to Argentina, with a team from the public and private sectors to actively support the hosting of the World Expo.

Furthermore, Jeong explained the 7 core businesses such as secondary battery materials, lithium and nickel projects of POSCO Group, which is being reborn as a representative company of future green materials. He also thanked the Argentine government for its cooperation and support.

POSCO CEO Jeong-woo Choi is currently a member of the private bidding committee and Chairman Tak Jeong is a member of the Busan Expo executive committee.

As of July this year, the POSCO Group has launched its Task Force (TF) to bolster its support for the bid and is focusing its efforts on overseas negotiations and public relations in the main negotiating countries. of the group, such as Argentina, Vietnam and Mexico, as well as in public relations activities to increase public interest.
