Surprisingly, one of the most popular games on Steam disappeared without warning. We refer to Dark and Darkerwhose popularity has grown by leaps and bounds for months due to its fun fantasy proposal with PvPvE elements.
The title inspired by Devil and other dungeon crawlers is in the hands of the Ironmace studio, which has a serious conflict with Nexon, a Chinese company that sent it a cease and desist letter accusing them of theft. Ironmace stated that it is already working to resolve this legal issue; however, the reality is that the future of Dark and Darker It is uncertain.

Dark and Darker vanishes from Steam amid accusations of theft
Nexon accuses Ironmace of stealing the source code of a project called P3. We know that Ironmace worked for a while on that title and, apparently, took advantage of his bases to create Dark and Darker. Nexon claims that the titles are too similar, so he points the studio out for theft.
Now, Dark and Darker It disappeared from Steam suddenly due to the cease and desist letter from Nexon. Ironmace denied the accusations and defended himself, but did not reveal much about the situation. He asked his players for patience and promised that they will do everything possible to save Dark and Darker.
“Nexon sent us a cease and desist letter and a copyright claim regarding Dark and Darker based on distorted claims. We are currently working with our legal team to best resolve this issue (…) We ask for your understanding as we work to get the game back up and running as soon as possible. Know that we will do everything we can for our fans,” Ironmace said.
According to various reports, authorities intervened in the case earlier this month and conducted a police raid on Ironmance’s offices. However, it is not clear what will happen to Dark and Darker in the future.
The title was a resounding success after the release of a demo at the beginning of the year. To put this into perspective, you should know that it had over 100,000 concurrent players per day and became one of the most played titles on Steam in record time.
