September 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Pope Francis arrived in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia and the country with the largest number of Muslims in the world, on Tuesday morning as part of his 12-day tour of Asia and Oceania, which will give him the opportunity to promote interreligious dialogue, continue evangelizing Asia and launch a clear message to curb climate change, while also testing his physical abilities at a time when he is dealing with various health problems.
“At 11.19 am Indonesia time, the Airbus A330 of the ItaAirways company landed at the Soekamo-Hatta international airport in Jakarta, carrying with it Pope Francis, his entourage and more than 70 journalists who are accompanying him on the 45th Apostolic Journey of his pontificate,” the official Vatican website reported.
The flight lasted almost 13 hours and covered 33,000 kilometers, his 45th international trip since his election in 2013, which will end on September 13, and which was scheduled for 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
