Polish PM warns that if Ukraine loses the war, China could attack Taiwan

13 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has drawn a connection between the situation in Ukraine and Taiwan, warning that if Russia wins the war, the Chinese government could be legitimized to launch an offensive against Taipei.

Morawiecki, on a visit to the United States, stressed the importance of the Western powers guaranteeing the Ukrainian victory if Taiwan is to “continue to be independent.” “I see a very big connection here,” said the Polish prime minister.

“If we lose Ukraine, we will lose peace for decades. A defeat for Ukraine may be the beginning of the end of the ‘golden age’ of the West. Victory is a guarantee not only of reconstruction, but also of strengthening our economic power.” , has added.

Thus, the Polish head of government has insisted that Russia does not see the war in Ukraine as a conflict with kyiv, but rather a kind of confrontation between Russia and the rest of the West. “In this context, Poland wants to become the base of European security,” Morawiecki assured, according to the PAP agency.

“Our neighbors to the West were the first to make the big mistake of close energy cooperation with Russia, and now their position towards Ukraine is not the same position as the United States or Poland,” said Morawiecki, who considers that there are European leaders who they want “a rapid ceasefire” and “at virtually any cost.”

Finally, Morawiecki has defended that Poland is one of the few countries in the world capable of defending a position favorable to the United States and Europe. “We are the perfect cornerstone of European-American relations,” he has defended.

“The United States is Poland’s indispensable partner, but Poland is also an indispensable link in Washington’s transatlantic policy,” concluded the Polish prime minister, who considers that cooperation between the United States and Europe is essential in the international context.

Morawiecki is visiting the United States, where he has already met with Vice President Kamala Harris, has visited Lockheed Martin facilities, a US company specializing in the aerospace and weapons industry and responsible for manufacturing combat aircraft such as the F-16 .
