Police evict an illegal party in northern Italy

ROME, Oct. 31 (DPA/EP) –

Police in the city of Modena, in northern Italy, on Monday evicted an illegal party with thousands of attendees that had been held since Saturday in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the Italian city.

Around 300 police have entered the factory to stop the illegal party or rave while inside several people had barricaded themselves to stop the police device, while others dismantled the tents and music equipment.

The Halloween party, which came to welcome more than 3,500 attendees at the same time, was supposed to last until Tuesday, according to the organizers. Within the framework of the eviction, the agents have requested the data of the attendees.

The illegal party has drawn disapproval from the new right-wing government, led by Giorgia Meloni, in Rome over the weekend, with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi calling for police intervention.

For his part, the leader of the right-wing Liga party and current Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvini, has welcomed the eviction action and has posted a message on his Twitter profile: “The fun is over.”
