March 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, has used this Monday the argument of Russia’s “imperialist” aspirations in this war — initiated to “subjugate” the Ukrainian people and appropriate their “enormous natural wealth” — to try to persuade several African countries to support Ukraine.
“Russian imperialism is a kind of neocolonialism” with which “to subjugate the Ukrainian people and Ukraine, to seize their enormous natural wealth and the potential of Ukrainian society,” said Duda in Doha, Qatar, during his speech at the United Nations Conference of the Least Developed Countries.
There he has met the prime ministers of Rwanda and Mozambique, Edoard Ngirente and Adriano Maleiane, respectively, whom he has alerted to the power of Russian propaganda, very present, he has said, in African countries and in international forums, such as the United Nations. United.
“The information disseminated (…) by the Russian media has nothing to do with reality and this is an example of Russian imperialism showing its face,” said Duda, for whom these “imperialist” aspirations are the ” main motive” that drives the Russian war machine.
“There is a lot of Russian propaganda in Africa. This imperialism must be stopped because something like this cannot take place in the 21st century,” stressed President Duda, in statements collected by the Polish PAP agency.
In this sense, he has conveyed to Prime Minister Maleiane the important role that Mozambique could play in this war once his ‘pro tempore’ presidency in the United Nations Security Council has now begun in March, of which he will be a member for the next two years. through a non-permanent membership.
