3 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcin Pshidach, celebrated this Monday that “several” of the promised MiG-29 fighters are already being used by Ukraine, whose authorities last week lamented the “little” impact that these aircraft were having. combat due to its seniority.
“Several MiG-29s have already been delivered to Ukraine, they are already helping them in the defense of the country. According to my information, the first part of this delivery process has already been completed,” Pshidach told RMF24 radio station.
Poland and Slovakia have committed to sending at least thirty of this type of Soviet-made combat aircraft, while another dozen of the fifty FA-50s purchased from South Korea should begin to arrive before the end of the year.
However, the Ukrainian authorities have recognized that the effectiveness of the MiG-29 is not as expected because they are combat aircraft that are close to becoming obsolete. “We need modern multi-role aircraft,” Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat said.
Despite everything, Pshidach has stressed that Poland will continue to send military aid to Ukraine, which, he has emphasized, must arrive faster and in much larger quantities. “The sooner these teams from Western Europe and the United States arrive, the sooner they will be ready in Ukraine,” he said.
“It is true that the Russians have older tanks, but they do not have a few, but several thousand. So it is good that this coalition was created and maintained in Western Europe, but this equipment must be delivered in much larger quantities and much faster. so that Ukraine can repel Russia,” he claimed.
