You read that right, The Pokémon Company has finally released a dating sim (or the closest thing to it in the franchise’s 26-year history). We are talking about the Trainer Lodge or Salón de Entrenadores (in Spanish), a new addition that has just debuted in Pokemon Masters EX.
This free-to-play title has been interesting for many players thanks to the fact that the focus is not on the Pokémon themselves, but on sync pairs, made up of a creature and a Trainer from the series. These couples get together with 2 others to form a team of 3 and face other teams.

Pokemon Masters EX fulfilled the dream of dating pokéwaifus and pokéhusbandos
After its premiere in 2019, the developer DeNA has offered new content, and we are precisely talking about it today because the most recent update included the addition of this mode, which is basically a dating simulator.
The option may not be as robust as a full-fledged dating sim, but it’s the closest the franchise has come to the genre. That said, you should keep in mind that there will be a significant limitation on dialogue and deep interaction, but you will be able to learn about some of the interests of your favorite Trainers.
The Trainer Lodge consists of a personal room where the player can invite up to 5 selectable characters in this mode, which debuted with Trainers Cynthia, Xycamore, N, Blue, Silver, May, Rosa, Lillie, and Marnie.
How does the Trainer Lodge work? Pokemon Masters EX?
The player will be able to choose one with whom he can spend up to 3 conversations (dates) per day in one of the many places of Passio (island where the game takes place). Well, once on the date, the player will be able to chat with his guest on various topics, but only the one related to the (hidden) interest will give more points that serve to raise the level of affinity.
As more topics are used in the conversation, the Trainer’s interest will drop and there will be a point where they will decide to end the date, so it will be key to keep the interest high and get to know your pokéwaifu or pokéhusbando (your favorite Trainers) very well. Interestingly, one of the ways to do this is by giving them gifts, which will also multiply the affinity points earned.
Also, if the topic of hidden interest is matched several times and the Trainer is satisfied, the Trainer can reach the state of euphoria, which will allow his interest to not drop for a few moments regardless of the player’s answers or choices.
In case you missed it: Pokemon Masters EX It will also make Ash Ketchum’s debut as a playable character in a video game in the series possible.
Over time, this will allow the player to unlock new locations to invite the other Trainer to, as well as other valuable rewards to improve the characters. The longer the conversation lasts, the more points you will get. Among the best prizes are a portrait with the favorite pokéwaifu or pokéhusbando, as well as obtaining a new sync pair, which consists of the Trainer with a new Pokémon.
The bad news is that in order to go on a date with one of these Trainers, you’ll first need to have their buddy partner. Unfortunately, characters like Cynthia and N can only be obtained through banners (gachapon) and not all of them are available for recruiting at this time. Even if you have another version of the Trainers (Cynthia’s Master Fair with Giratina, for example) it will not unlock the original version that is available in the Trainer Lodge.
More characters are expected to be available for dating at a later date.
