The videogame Pokémon GO closed the year 2022 with a special Community Day, which was filled with captures of all the creatures that appeared in the year. As expected, the year 2023 will also start with a Community Day.
On January 7th, Chespin will appear more frequently and you can capture him in his variocolor or shiny version if you are lucky. You will also get a special move called Ferocious Plant if you evolve it into Chesnaught.
Three days later, on January 10, the first major global event outside of Community Days will take place: “Scintillating Fantasy”. It is a whole week where you can capture Fairy-type creatures.
“You can surround yourself with Fairy-type Dedenne, battle the Dragon Pokémon Mega Salamence, and much more during the Twinkling Fantasy event! What magical stories will you live with these Pokémon?” Niantic details in the event description.
From January 10 to 16, Mega-Salamence will appear in the Megaraids, which will also have a variocolor version.

- Double XP for successfully catching Pokémon with good throws, great throws, and excellent throws.
- Bonus candy for successfully catching Pokémon with good throws, great throws, and excellent throws.
- Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and above to receive Candy ++ for successfully catching Pokémon with good throws, great throws, and excellent throws.
