Podemos, France Insoumise and other European forces launch a new party to distance themselves from the traditional left

Podemos, France Insoumise, the Portuguese Bloco and other left-wing parties have launched a new party at European level under the name of ‘European Left Alliance for the People and the Planet’, which is awaiting processing at the Authority for European Parties and Foundations, where it was registered on 29 August.

The alliance that these forces have been establishing for years aims to become a new organisation that distances itself from the more traditional and communist left-wing forces grouped in the Party of the European Left, which includes the United Left and the PCE of Spain, and Syriza or Die Linke, among others. However, they will coexist under the umbrella of the Left group (The Left GUE/NGL) in the European Parliament.
