The digital collectibles that will deliver the PlayStation loyalty program stars as rewards for playing they will not be non-fungible tokens (NFT), as confirmed by Sony, who has also denied that they can be sold.
Sony has presented this Thursday PlayStation Stars, its free loyalty program with which console users will be able to accumulate prizes for playing, winning tournaments or getting certain trophies for certain titles.
A type of rewards with the digital collectibles, digital representations iconic characters and devices that are part of the company’s history. Despite its name, the company has clarified that it’s not about NFT nor do they use ‘blockchain’ technology.
“Definitely not NFTs. Definitely not. You can not change or sell them. It’s not leveraging any blockchain technology and definitely not NFTs,” VP of Network Advertising, Loyalty and Licensed Merchandise Grace Chen told The Associated Press. Washington Post Collected by Europa Press.
The company has also indicated that it is working to prevent fraudulent activity around rewards that players can get for participating or getting trophies in certain titles.
