More than thirty officials from the Planning and Programming Secretariat of the Presidency of Guatemala (SEGEPLAN) participated in the workshop “Prospective for the construction of scenarios“, taught by the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
The training is the result of the efforts carried out by ILPES with the objective of strengthening the institutional capacities of SEGEPLAN in topics of foresight, strategic planning, territorial development, governance and public investment.
During a week of in-person activities in Guatemala City, participants delved into methodologies and tools for the construction of prospective scenarios and tools for strategic anticipation, being able to develop their own methodological route to institutionalize foresight in Guatemala. The course focused on the design of methodological strategies for their practical application, allowing the SEGEPLAN technical team to improve their skills in the matter. 25 people participated in the face-to-face week, 14 women and 11 men, who received a certificate that accredited their participation in the workshop and its approval.
The training was facilitated by ILPES officials, Carlos Sandoval and María del Pilar Délano, who shared their extensive knowledge in foresight and strategic planning, enriching the learning of the participants.
With this activity, SEGEPLAN reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable development and strengthening strategic planning in Guatemala, equipping its staff with the necessary tools to design and implement effective, long-term public policies focused on anticipation.
