Philippines studies investigating possible US campaign to discredit Chinese COVID-19 vaccine

June 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Philippine Ministry of Health indicated this Sunday that it could investigate published information about a “secret” campaign launched by the United States Armed Forces to discredit the Sinovac vaccine developed by China in the Philippines and other countries.

The Philippine Government thus responds to an investigation by the Reuters news agency in which there is talk of a clandestine US military program that would be a response to Chinese accusations of blaming Washington for the pandemic.

“The Reuters findings deserve to be investigated by the relevant authorities of the countries involved,” said the Philippine Ministry of Health, according to Philippine television ABS-CBN.

The Philippine Ministry of Health also refers to scientific studies prepared for the country’s authorities which highlight that “the vaccination decision among Filipinos is determined by their age, educational level, health insurance, employment status, awareness of the disease and confidence in vaccination.

The final objective would also be to reduce China’s influence in the Philippines, a country that was especially affected by the disease.

Sinovac was one of the vaccines distributed in the Philippines at the most critical moment of the pandemic, although there were also vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Moderna.
