Philippine Embassy and Australian Maritime Safety Authority discuss bilateral maritime cooperation

Australian Maritime Safety Authority

Charge d’Affaires Aian Caringal conveyed the Philippine Government’s appreciation to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for the assistance they have provided to the Philippine sailors in a meeting with AMSA CEO Mick Kinley and Chief Operating Officer Michael Drake on March 2, 2023 at AMSA’s Canberra office.

As Australia’s national agency for maritime safety, AMSA has ensured the safety and well-being of Filipino seafarers arriving in Australian waters.

During the pandemic, AMSA ensured that foreign seafarers, especially those infected with COVID-19, received the necessary treatment and support when their ships arrived in Australian waters. They also deal with seafarers affected by cases involving shipowners that lead to their abandonment.
