PETRONAS presents “Linundus Do Koubasanan”, a film that celebrates kaamatan values

To celebrate this year’s Kaamatan, PETRONAS presents “Linundus Do Koubasanan” (Seindah Tradisi), a film that highlights the role of unity and tradition in fostering communal harmony.

Set in the picturesque Kampung Kiau, a village in the valleys of Mount Kinabalu, the film showcases the area’s unique landscape through the lenses of co-cinematographers Bebbra Mailin and Rewan Ishak, bringing their signature touch to the depiction of the local culture in the celebration of Kaamatan.

The film tells the story of Fridden, a young man who is tasked by his father to help prepare for the Kaamatan festival. Viewers are introduced to various aspects of the community’s way of life, from its intricate customs to its daily challenges and triumphs.

The narrative delves into the themes of cultural heritage, unity and the timeless values ​​of sacrifice and hard work, introducing the local Dusun dialect, practices and traditions, and sharing the joy of celebrating Kaamatan.

Siti Azlina Abdul Latif, General Director of Strategic Relations and Communication of PETRONAS Group, stated: “Inspired by the spirit of the Kaamatan, “Linundus Do Koubasanan” underlines the importance of preserving our cultural heritage from generation to generation. “Through this film, we also want to highlight the crucial role of unity and tradition in maintaining harmony within the community.”

Viewers are introduced to various aspects of the community’s way of life, from its intricate customs to its daily challenges and triumphs.

The film was launched today at an exclusive preview at Imago Mall, attended by Kadazandusun Cultural Association vice-president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and members of the media.
