Gustav Petro, President-elect of Colombia, appointed two new women, within his ministerial cabinet, in portfolios related to the economy: Work and Mines and Energy.

On the one hand, in the Ministry of Labor, Petro appointed Gloria Ines Ramirez, whom he described as “a defender of human rights and the demands of workers”.
“She has been a woman who has fought for women’s rights and gender equity“, he added.

in the portfolio of Mines and Energy, the appointment rests with Irene Velez.
According to the president himself, VĂ©lez is philosopher from the National University and has a Ph.D. in Political Geography from Copenhagen.

“She is a woman with extensive experience in the environmental sector and who will have the arduous task of leading the transition to a non-extractivist economy.Petro said.
