With the aim of promoting the tourism offer of the Republic of Peru abroad, the nation participated in the ITB Shanghai 2024 tourism fair, between May 27 and 29, where more than 600 exhibitors from 80 countries gathered and which was organized by the German firm Messe Berlin GMbH.
The Latin American country had an attractive stand prepared by Promperú and which brought together 12 national wholesale exhibitors. The Consul General of Peru in Shanghai, David Gamarra and the Commercial Counselor of Peru, Bernardo Muñoz cut the ribbon during the inauguration of the stand.
The president of the German firm Messe Berlin GMbH, David Axiotis, addressed a welcome message to the delegations. During the speech, Axiotis pointed out statistical data indicating that, since 2023, the trajectory of Chinese tourism has been increasing sustainably. The theme of this edition of the ITB Shanghai tourism fair was “Innovation and Development, Together Expanding the Future”.
Those countries and cities that were participating in the exhibition for the first time at this international fair were also welcomed, such as South Korea, Morocco, Hawaii, Buenos Aires, Cuba, as well as Peru, among other tourist destinations. Of the total exhibitors, 22% corresponded to Oceania, 28% to Europe, 16% to China, 11% to the Middle East, 12% to America, and 9% to Africa.
