15 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
A group of pensioners and retirees have mobilized in Madrid this Saturday against the pension reform approved last March by the Government, claiming that, given the lack of listening, “if there is no solution, there will be a revolution”.
The concentration has been called by various pensioner associations in Madrid to protest against “the privatization of Social Security”, for the defense of public services and for “decent work, wages and pensions for all”.
“We do not want to pay the debt with healthcare and pension”, have been some of the phrases that have been heard in the concentration, as well as the protesters have defended that “whoever governs governs, public pensions defend themselves”.
The people who have attended the demonstration promoted by the General Confederation of Workers (CGT) have criticized that the Executive “resort to a decree to impose a new pension reform.”
Thus, a pensioner explained to the media that “the reform should not have been carried out if the audit of the Social Security accounts had been carried out previously”, which “would demonstrate that the system is sustainable “.
Along the same lines, a retiree objected that “for everything to improve, society would have to move more, be more in combat, with more young people”, as well as that “it is necessary to get even more to the left”.
