The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will meet in Madrid next Thursday 28 with the President of the Andalusian Government, Juan Manuel Moreno, the President of Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, and the President of Castilla León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco.
This was announced at a press conference by the Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, after the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday. “Next Thursday the 28th, in this intense agenda of the president (Sánchez), we will also have the newly elected presidents of Galicia, Castilla y León and Andalusia”, Rodríguez indicated.
Precisely Mañueco has asked this Tuesday that an extraordinary conference of presidents be held in Spain after the summer to make a “national reflection” on fires and has also asked the Government to declare the provinces affected by the fires a catastrophic zone. Speaking to the media in the Ávila municipality of Cebreros, currently affected by a serious fire, Fernández Mañueco has proposed that this meeting be held between regional presidents to “improve coordination” of prevention and firefighting in addition to “other issues”.
Among these other questions, he has asked to reflect on climate change and the consequences that this has for the environment, with “heat waves that are increasingly earlier and more frequent, more intense and longer in time”.
Dialogue table with Catalonia
This meeting takes place in the same week that Sánchez will meet with the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, to continue with the dialogue table, leave the clash over Pegasus behind and inaugurate a stage in which they will seek agreements both in the Congress as between governments. The exact date on which the two will meet is still unknown.
