Patriot shows a new prototype SSD capable of reaching 12GB/s

It’s no surprise that PCI Express 5.0-based SSDs are very capable, and that is exactly what Patriot has shown at CES 2023where it has been possible to see exactly that, a prototype of a unit that, although it is not yet ready for sale, Yes, he is capable of showing us what he is capable of.

IF the prototype is something we can build on, it will be a unit with active cooling on an exceptionally thick heatsink, something that will force us to do without any type of cover that may come with our motherboard to make room for it. Also, it may not fit in the slots that are under our graphics card.

Virtually all the data related to this SSD is unknown, of which we do not even know which controller it will have, beyond being compatible with NVMe 2.0 and connecting via a PCI Express 5.0 4x bus.
