( Spanish) — A new caravan of migrants left this Sunday from southern Mexico to the country’s capital, a team found.
The objective is to demand free transit and justice from the government for the 40 detainees who died at the end of March in a fire that broke out in an immigration station in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.
Some of the participants who left from Tapachula, Chiapas, carry crosses in what they called a “migrant Stations of the Cross.”
According to estimates from various local media, up to 3,000 people participate in this new caravan.

This is the first massive mobilization of migrants in Mexican territory since the fire at the immigration station in Ciudad Juárez. An investigation has already been opened in the case and several officials have been arrested.
