Paris Hilton celebrated the 18th anniversary of the iconic paparazzi photo of her driving alongside Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears.
“18 years ago today, this photo became the moment that defined an era,” he said. wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, sharing the photo.
“@BritneySpears, @LindsayLohan and I, the Holy Trinity. Instantly iconic ✨ #LovesIt 💖 #Sliving #Y2K 🚙💋.”
The snap was originally taken in November 2006 while leaving a party at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
Although the three are seen laughing inside the car, Hilton revealed in 2021 that it was actually an awkward moment for them because she and Lohan had been fighting.
The man who is now 43 years old explained in his podcast, “This is Paris,” that the photos were taken after a pope asked him about a video in which Lohan claimed he had hit her.
She said: “[Spears and I] They were walking to the car and suddenly we were surrounded by tons of paparazzi. Just as we were walking to the car, that’s when Lindsay showed up. “It was a little awkward because we were having some drama.”
“At that moment, I saw Lindsay walking towards us and I said, ‘Why don’t you ask her?’” the “Stars are Blind” singer recalled.
“And Lindsay said… ‘No, Paris would never hit me. I’ve known her since I was 15.’ It was basically just not admitting what he did. “It was pretty awkward to be asked that question, and it was just weird how that all happened.”
Hilton added that the next moment she looked and saw the “Mean Girls” star, now 38, in her car.
“We didn’t get along, so I was polite,” she said. “It was very difficult to even get out of there because I couldn’t see with all the cameras.”
The “Simple Life” alum claimed that she and Lohan were previously “close friends,” but “she did some things to really hurt me and betrayed my trust, and caused a lot of drama.”
“So we weren’t friends anymore, and it was like an on-again, off-again friendship,” he added.
However, the mother of two noted that the discord could be attributed to age. At the time, Lohan was 20 years old, while Hilton was 25.
“But when I think about it now, we were very young, immature. “It was like a high school drama, especially in the L.A. scene, and living it out in public with the media constantly trying to stir things up and make it worse,” Hilton explained.
“Back then, the media really enjoyed girls fighting each other.”
This isn’t the first time Hilton has celebrated the now legendary photo, as she recreated it in 2019 with a Queen Elizabeth II impersonator and a Spears double.
