At least one Palestinian youth died on Friday evening from head injuries sustained after being shot by Israeli army personnel in the West Bank town of Hebron, the Wafa news agency reported.
The victim died of gunshot wounds to the head in Beit Ummar, north of Hebron in the southern West Bank, medical sources at the town’s National Hospital told the agency. The 20-year-old had been released from Israeli army prisons two weeks ago.
During the same clashes, dozens of people were injured to varying degrees by gas inhalation and were treated on the ground with signs of asphyxiation, after Israeli forces fired and launched grenades and tear gas at the population in the area.
The death toll from the military offensive launched by Israel against the Gaza Strip following the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions against Israeli territory has exceeded the threshold of 38,800, Gazan authorities, controlled by the Islamist group, reported on Thursday.
Specifically, the Gazan Ministry of Health pointed out in a statement on its Telegram account that the offensive has so far left 38,848 dead and 89,459 wounded, before pointing out that “the Israeli occupation has committed three massacres against families in Gaza” during the last day, with a balance of 54 “martyrs” and 95 wounded transferred to hospitals in the Palestinian enclave.
These death tolls add to the 560 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks by settlers since 7 October.
