Palestinian teenager shot dead by Israeli forces during protest near Ramallah

July 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

A Palestinian teenager was killed this Friday by Israeli forces in a clash in the West Bank town of Al Muqayir, on the outskirts of Ramallah, as confirmed by the Palestinian authorities.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has indicated in its account on the social network Facebook that the deceased is Amjad Nashat abu Alia, 16, and has added that he received “critical injuries” due to several bullet wounds in the chest.

According to information collected by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the clashes broke out due to the repression by Israeli forces and a group of settlers of a protest in the outskirts of Ramallah against several recent attacks by settlers in the area.

The Israeli Army has indicated that soldiers and members of the Border Police used riot control methods in the face of a “violent protest” and has confirmed that it has received information about the death of a Palestinian, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’ .

Thus, he has pointed out that hundreds of Palestinians set fire to tires and threw stones at vehicles that were crossing the area. Shortly after, new clashes have broken out between settlers and Palestinians, although all have been dispersed by Israeli forces.

The incidents have erupted after three Palestinians were shot and wounded after being shot late on Thursday by Israeli security forces near a military checkpoint south of the West Bank city of Nablus, according to Palestinian sources, an incident blamed on by Israel to an armed attack against the soldiers deployed in the area.

They also take place less than a week after the death of two Palestinian militiamen during an operation by the Israeli Army in Nablus, amid the rise in tensions in the area in recent months after several terrorist attacks carried out since mid-March, which led to an increase in operations by Israeli forces in the West Bank.
