Palestinian death toll from Israel's Gaza offensive rises to over 41,400

Gazan authorities warn that generators in health centres could stop working within ten days

September 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Authorities in the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), have estimated this Sunday that more than 41,400 Palestinians have died due to the offensive launched by the Israeli Army against the enclave following the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamist group and other Palestinian factions.

The Gazan Ministry of Health said in a statement posted on its Facebook account that so far 41,431 Palestinians have been confirmed dead, while another 95,818 have been injured since the start of the offensive more than eleven months ago.

He said that over the past 24 hours there have been “three massacres” carried out by Israeli troops in the enclave, which have left at least 40 dead and 58 wounded, although he specified that “there are still victims among the rubble and on the roads.”

The agency also warned that the power generators in health centres that are still operational could stop working within ten days due to a lack of oil, filters and spare parts, which “poses a great danger to the lives of patients, especially in operations, intensive care and nursing”.

“We call on all international and humanitarian institutions to intervene quickly to deliver the oil, filters and spare parts needed for the generators,” the Hamas-controlled ministry said in a brief statement posted on its Facebook account.

The offensive was launched after the attacks on October 7, which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 250 kidnapped, according to Israeli authorities. More than 700 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli security forces and in attacks by settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since that date.
