MADRID 11 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Pakistani authorities announced this Sunday the death of a dozen suspected terrorists in several operations carried out by the security forces in the district of North Waziristan, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban, near the border with Afghanistan.

The Army Information Office (ISPR) of Pakistan has explained that during the day it located a group and they had an “intense exchange of fire”, as a result of which two alleged terrorists were killed. In another operation, they attacked a group that “was trying to infiltrate” across the border, killing two and wounding two others.

Hours earlier, the ISPR reported that in a military operation carried out in the same area but the day before, on Saturday, it killed six alleged terrorists and injured six others. Weapons and ammunition have also been seized, according to a statement published on their website.

Pakistani security forces have carried out dozens of operations in recent months against the group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), known as the Pakistani Taliban and responsible for dozens of attacks against security forces since the ceasefire was broken. the fire in November 2022.

The TTP group, which differs from the Afghan Taliban in organizational matters but follows the same rigorous interpretation of Sunni Islam, brings together more than a dozen Islamist militant groups operating in Pakistan, where they have killed some 70,000 people in two decades of violence.
