Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has formally asked the German government to investigate the attack carried out on Saturday by a group of Afghan citizens on its consulate in Frankfurt and has demanded explanations from Berlin after considering that the security forces were not adequately protecting the building.
Afghans threw stones at the diplomatic building and even tore down the flag from the facade in an attack presumably caused by the wave of forced deportations that the Pakistani government has been carrying out for months against the Afghan population in this country.
“We are conveying our protest to the German government, which we urge to fulfil its responsibilities in accordance with the Vienna Conventions” on diplomatic relations, according to a statement from the Pakistani ministry published on its website.
