The Government of Pakistan has declared Monday as an official day of mourning for the death of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II.

“The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has given his approval for a day of mourning for the death of the queen of the United Kingdom. September 12 will be declared a day of mourning in Pakistan,” said Pakistani Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. , quoted by Pakistani television Geo TV.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has transferred to the Government the recommendation for the adoption of the necessary actions related to the death of the monarch.


Elizabeth II ascended the throne in 1952, formally becoming the queen of the Dominion of Pakistan until 1956, when it became the Islamic Republic with a new constitution.
