On Sunday, November 10, the new episcopal residence was inaugurated and blessed in the presence of Cardinal Joseph Coutts, the apostolic nuncio to Pakistan, Bishop Germano Penemote, and numerous bishops of Pakistan. Rawalpindi () – The new residence of the bishop of the diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi was inaugurated with a ceremony. On Sunday, November 10, at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Lalkurti, Cardinal Joseph Coutts and the Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan, Monsignor Germano Penemote, presided over the event, which was an important sign of hope for the Pakistani Catholic community.
Archbishop Joseph Arshad and Father Asif Joh welcomed the faithful and numerous prominent guests, including the Bishop of Hyderabad, Samson Shukrudin, the Bishop of Quetta, Khalid Rehmat, the Bishop of Faisalabad, Indriyas Rehmat, and the Bishop of Multan, Yousaf Sohan, along with members of the clergy, nuns, catechists and students. The celebration was accompanied by a concert and theatrical performances. Father Pascal Paulus opened the event with a speech in which he underlined the spiritual significance of the new Episcopal House, destined to become a reference center for the pastoral and social activity of the diocese.
After the Mass, the facilities were blessed. Father Sarfraz Simon reflected on the path of the diocese over the years, highlighting the dedication of the clergy and laity to embody the faith of the community. The ceremony concluded with an exchange of gifts and a lunch of gratitude and fraternity between the clergy and the community of faithful.
