PA says Israel's attack on displaced persons center in Rafah 'exceeds all limits'

The Palestinian Presidency affirms that the US is “responsible for these crimes” and calls for immediate measures to stop the attacks

The spokesman for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil abú Rudeina, stated this Sunday that the “deliberate attack” by the Israeli Army against a center for displaced people in Rafah, in which at least 35 Palestinians have died, “exceeds all limits.”

Rudeina has stated that an intervention “to immediately stop the crimes committed against the Palestinian people” is an “urgent need”, since “the commission of this atrocious massacre by the occupation forces is a challenge to all resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly the lucid and sincere ruling of the International Court of Justice that orders Israel to cease its military offensive against Rafah.”

“The US positions that financially and politically support the occupation are the main reason for these horrific massacres committed by the occupation. The US Administration is responsible for these crimes, which are a shame for humanity,” reads a statement.

Finally, the presidential spokesperson urged “the world to take immediate measures to stop this massive aggression carried out against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and force the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their crimes.” that will lead to an explosion of the situation.”

Following the Israeli bombing of the Barakasat displaced persons center, the Gazan Government has denounced that “never before in history had such a large number of instruments of mass killing been accumulated and used together”, recalling that these attacks join the deprivation of water, food, medicine, electricity and fuel; to the destruction of basic infrastructure that causes the spread of epidemics and cannot be stopped; preventing the transfer of patients abroad or attacking humanitarian teams.

Furthermore, he recalled that the Israeli authorities “had designated these areas as safe zones and had asked citizens and displaced people to go to those areas.” Specifically, seven projectiles and large bombs containing more than 900 kilos of explosive each fell in Barakasat.

For its part, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported that they have opened an investigation after an attack in which they acknowledge that “several people unrelated” to the target were injured. The target of the Israeli Army was two senior Hamas officials in the West Bank, who have been blamed for the death of Israeli soldiers.
