28 Sep. (Portaltic/EP) –
Blizzard prepare the launch of Overwatch 2 as a free game with the implementation of a moderation system that will transcribe the audios and the introduction of a new gaming experience for beginners with fewer modes and heroes.
The video game company seeks to face the challenges posed by free games and the increase in the user base with an initiative that it has called Defense Matrix, in reference to D.Va’s holographic shield.
One of the measures contemplated by Defense Matrix is SMS protection, which introduces an extra layer of security into account verification, both to protect a compromised account and to prevent a penalized violator from gaining access to yours.
The use of machine learning has been used for years to detect and prevent disruptive behavior, also in text chats, and now the company is going to extend it with audio transcripts.
“Audio transcripts allow us to collect a temporary voice chat recording of a reported player and automatically transcribe it through speech-to-text programs,” which check automated tools for “disruptive behavior.”
They will also introduce what they have called the ‘first time’ user experiencefor those players who will register after the launch of the game, who seeks to facilitate the introduction to the game by initially offering a reduced number of modes, heroes and features.
These limitations will be removed when playing in a group, although they will remain with the Competitive mode, since, as they explain from Blizzard, “new players must complete a specific challenge to access this game mode.” Also will rearrange the praisewhich will be limited to one category per game.
For communication with the team without having to resort to voice chat, the company has introduced the Ping system, while the general chat in the game menu has been removedas it frequently welcomed disruptive behavior.
OverWatch 2 will arrive as a “free permanent service” on October 4as Blizzard already reported in June, for PC, Xbox One and Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and 5 and Nintendo Switch platforms.
