From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the same day (PDT), they shared the following update: “we are making significant updates to our databases to address player queues. Players will not be able to access the servers during this time”.
The protection system by telephone number will be withdrawn
“We designed Overwatch 2 to be a live service, which allows us to respond to a variety of player feedback. We have made the decision to remove phone number requirements for most existing Overwatch players. Any Overwatch player with an account battle.net connected, which includes all players who have played since June 9, 2021, you will not have to provide a phone number to play. We are working on making this change and expect it to be available on Friday, October 7. We will update the players once it is live”.
