The world of wearables is in luck and that of smart rings or smart rings in particular. After the announcement that Samsung’s Galaxy Ring was arriving in Spain, Oura, the Finnish company that revolutionized the market with its smart ring, has just announced the fourth generation of its flagship product: the Oura Ring 4.
At first glance, the new ring may appear identical to the previous version, but appearances can be deceiving. It is now made entirely of titanium, leaving behind the epoxy interior of version 3. In addition, all models adopt a completely round design, saying goodbye to the flat edge of some versions.
As expected, one of the biggest changes is in the sensors. Oura has managed to embed them in the ring, eliminating those small protuberances that surely some found annoying.. The result is a flatter profile that won’t be uncomfortable if you wear it 24 hours a day.
But the real revolution is within. Oura has developed a new algorithm that promises to put an end to one of the biggest problems with smart rings: sensor misalignment due to finger movements.
The Oura Ring 4 can last up to eight days on a single charge
This software increases the signal paths from 8 to 18, allowing you to choose the best one at all times. According to the company, this translates into a 120% increase in signal quality and 30% more accuracy in blood oxygen tracking.
The battery has also been renewed and Oura claims that the Oura Ring 4 can last up to eight days on a single charge, depending on the size of the ring.. Speaking precisely of sizes, the company has expanded them, now available from size 4 to 15, due to a change, with women between 20 and 30 years old being the fastest growing segment.
The ring’s accompanying app has also been updated. It is now divided into three main sections: Today, Vitals and My Health. Among the new features are a renewed diurnal stress metric, automatic detection of 40 types of activities and fertile window predictions.
The Oura Ring 4 It goes on sale with a price of 399 euros, although it can reach up to 549 euros in some configurations.
