Madrid is that community where public universities are the most expensive in Spain and the worst financed. It is also the region that spends the least per inhabitant on public health. It is where the most regional presidents of the PP have been involved in cases of corruption (one of them even went to jail). It is where the so-called protocols of shame were approved under the mandate of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, due to which 7,291 elderly people were allowed to die in nursing homes during the pandemic. It is a place where tax crimes are protected if the person committing them is the boyfriend of its president. And it is the territory from which the hoax and misinformation factory of Miguel Ángel Rodríguez (MAR) works at a frenetic pace to “shred” those who, with truthful information, uncover the filth that is hidden under the carpets of Puerta del Sol and surroundings.

And yet the socialist Óscar López (Madrid, 1973) has decided to take the step to, first, take over the general secretary of the PSOE in Madrid and, subsequently, face Isabel Díaz Ayuso at the polls. “He doesn’t know what he’s getting into!” Some colleagues of the Minister for Digital Transformation and the Public Service were surprised when they learned the news from elDiario.es last October. “But is he willing?” asked others who believed that the idea of ​​throwing him into the toxicity that comes from Madrid politics had come from Pedro Sánchez. Nothing of the sort.
