Opponent Edmundo González denounces “kidnapping” of his son-in-law in Venezuela

Opposition leader Edmundo González, recognized as president-elect of Venezuela by the United States and other countries in the region, denounced this Tuesday that his son-in-law was “kidnapped” in Caracas.

“This morning my son-in-law Rafael Tudares was kidnapped. Rafael was heading to the school of my 7 and 6-year-old grandchildren, in Caracas, to drop them off for the start of classes, and hooded men, dressed in black, intercepted him, put him in a gold-colored truck, license plate AA54E2C, and took him away. . At this time he is missing,” González wrote in his X account.

“The rest of the agenda is suspended,” he confirmed to the Voice of America a source close to the opponent.

González, who is on tour in the United States, gathering political support ahead of January 10, the date for the presidential inauguration in Venezuela, had already met this Tuesday in Washington with a group of Republican Party legislators.

“We appreciate the support of Senators: @SenRickScott, @BillCassidy, @PeteRicketts, and Congressmen JohnRutherford Laurel Lee, Scott Franklin, Mario Díaz Balart, @MaElviraSalazar, Mike Haridopolos and Vern Buchanan,” wrote the CommandWithVzla in X.
