The program of Doctorate in Territorial Planning and Sustainability is an advanced academic program in the area of ​​Territorial Planning and Sustainability, which trains graduates with specialized knowledge of the disciplines involved and skills to develop original and autonomous research under interdisciplinary approaches, granting the degree of Doctor in this subject.

The program guides its doctoral students to work in a space of reflection, inclusion and critical capacity to contribute in the context of future transformations that the country and the world need to carry out in order to reduce socio-spatial and environmental inequalities. For this, they will have a solid theoretical-conceptual and instrumental training that will allow them to investigate territorial imbalances with different emphases from an interdisciplinary perspective, managing to address in an integrated manner the problems of the territory, its scientific and technological development, thus contributing with proposals according to reality. and its context.

Program objectives

Train advanced human resources, in the themes of territorial planning (simulation of scenarios, socio-natural risks, territorial planning, geomatics) and sustainability (applied ecology, biodiversity, limnology and water resources, sociology, economics, interculturality) with analytical capacity and critical reflection to solve problems, work in teams and conduct research autonomously.

  • Promote research focused on the systemic and interdisciplinary study of the components and processes that are required to move towards sustainable territorial planning at different scales of intervention.

The program is aimed at professionals, from the public or private world, related to the area of ​​planning and/or management and/or sustainability of the territory, with an interest in deepening the concepts, methods and techniques for the analysis and understanding of territorial systems. .

Professionals from the most diverse areas of knowledge can apply, which makes professional interest and performance play a relevant role in the selection. It is mainly focused on Geographers, Environmental Engineers, Forest Engineers, Geologists, Agricultural Engineers, Civil Engineers, Architects, Ecologists, Economists, Sociologists, Political Scientists, Public Administrators and related titles.
