One person has died and several have been injured in the derail a roller coaster at the Grona Lund amusement park in Stockholm. Swedish public broadcaster SVT has indicated that it is the Jetline attraction. “This is tragic and shocking, and sadly we have learned that one person has died”Grona Lund spokeswoman Annika Troselius said.
After the accident, several ambulances, fire trucks and a helicopter arrived at the park. Police have said children and adults were among the injured, but declined to comment on the extent of the injuries. “We are clearing the park and have started our investigation,” a police spokesman said.
According to Jenny Lagerstedt, a journalist who witnessed the events, a metallic noise was heard and she noticed that the track structure was shaking at the time of the accident. “My husband saw a roller coaster car with people falling to the ground“, Lagerstedt has assured. “My children were scared,” he added.

Several witnesses said the roller coaster had partly derailed during one ride, sending people crashing to the ground. The Minister of Culture of Sweden, Parisa Liljestrand, has shown her regret for the news, which she has classified as incomprehensible. “My thoughts are with those affected, as well as their families and loved ones,” Liljestrand said in a statement to the news agency TT.
The Jetline roller coaster reaches a speed of up to 90 kilometers per hour and is 30 meters high. The Grona Lund organization has said in a statement that the 140-year-old park will remain closed until further notice.
