( Spanish) — One person died this Saturday after an accident involving two planes occurred during a training mission at the Air Combat Command No. 2, located in Apiay, in the department of Meta, reported in a statement the Colombian Air Force.
“As a result of this unfortunate accident, Lieutenant Colonel Mario Andrés Espinosa González died,” the statement explained.
“An inspection commission was sent to the scene of the events, in order to advance the investigation that allows determining the causes of the accident,” added the Colombian Air Force.
Earlier, the Colombian Air Force had reported in a message on Twitter investigating an “accident at the Apiay Air Base, Meta, involving two T-27 Tucano training aircraft.”
Meanwhile, this Sunday the agency reported on Twitter that the second pilot of the two planes involved in the plane crash on Saturday managed to make an emergency landing after the incident and his state of health is “stable” although he will continue under medical observation.
